BOTOX

Aging is inevitable. Despite our best efforts, we eventually develop wrinkles around our eyes, on the forehead, and between the brows. Besides affecting our self-esteem, they make us look tired, old, and even angry. At Physicians Center For Renewal, our certified master injectors provide highly-curated Botox treatments to reduce wrinkles without freezing your expressions. Please call us or schedule a consultation online for your Botox treatment in Newport Beach.

What is Botox?

Botox is one of the world’s most popular and effective anti-aging treatments for dynamic wrinkles. Botox is injected in strategically-chosen locations to suppress or minimize the wrinkles around the eyes, on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and other regions. In some cases, Botox injections can also be used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Botox results usually appear within a week and last for 3 to 6 months.

Botox can be used to treat:

  • Dynamic Wrinkles: Forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet around the eyes.
  • Hyperhidrosis: Excessive underarm sweating.

How does Botox Work?

Botox is a neuromodulator composed of a neurotoxic protein called botulinum. This neurotoxic protein prevents the release of neurotransmitters from your nerve endings, i.e., it basically blocks communications between nerve endings and the associated muscles. As such, Botox can temporarily relax targeted muscles in your body, thereby treating dynamic wrinkles, excessive sweating, migraines, jaw pains, and other problems associated with overactive muscles.

Botox for Dynamic Wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles are the facial lines caused by the overuse of certain facial muscles. When you laugh, smile, or frown, a few lines appear on your face to convey your emotions. When you’re young, these lines fade away when your face returns to a neutral position. However, as you grow older, the underlying facial muscles strengthen, and the dynamic wrinkles stay etched on your facial features.

When carefully injected into the targeted facial tissues, Botox blocks communications between nerve endings and the facial muscles responsible for your dynamic wrinkles. The targeted muscles relax, and the associated dynamic wrinkles smoothen away for several months. Continued Botox usage also minimizes the wrinkles’ prominence, providing long-term improvements. Botox can also prevent the wrinkles from becoming prominent.

Botox for Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating, medically known as hyperhidrosis, is a condition wherein your overactive sweat glands make you sweat continuously. In normal situations, the sweat glands produce sweat when the external temperature is high, or you’re engaged in high-energy physical activities. Sweat production regulates your body temperature. However, people with hyperhidrosis sweat even without external stimulation.

Botox is FDA-approved to treat underarm sweating, but it can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis in the scalp, palms, and other regions. Botox injections prevent the sweat glands from communicating with the nerves sending the sweat secretion signals. They temporarily paralyze the sweat glands, minimizing or eliminating unwanted sweat secretion from the targeted areas.

The Botox Treatment Process

Your Botox Consultation

Your Botox treatment starts with a personal consultation with the master injectors at Physicians Center For Renewal. We review your medical history, discuss your goals, and curate the ideal Botox treatment plan. Instead of following a cookie-cutter treatment plan, we identify the ideal Botox dosage and treatment areas to ensure optimal and natural results.

The Botox Treatment

Your cosmetic injector will apply a mild skin cleanser to the treatment areas. We use ice or a numbing cream to ensure a painless and comfortable experience. The injector will mark the treatment areas and deliver the carefully-chosen Botox dosage via ultrafine needles. The number of injections depends on your specific needs and goals.

Aftercare & Recovery

The treatment areas will look red, swollen, and irritated for a few days. You may even experience mild bruising around the treatment areas. However, you can resume your daily activities and work immediately with no downtime. You should avoid strenuous workouts for about 12 hours and keep your head upright for at least 4 hours.

Botox Results

Botox results usually start appearing in 2 to 3 days, but it takes around 1 week to see optimal results. The treatment’s longevity depends on your specific lifestyle and tolerance, but it usually lasts for 3 to 6 months. Most patients need 2 to 4 botox treatments per year to maintain flawless results. The cosmetic injector will recommend the ideal treatment frequency.
